New product introduction (NPI)
- In order to stay competitive, companies introduce new products and services all the time. But a new product means a new supply chain, and you need to make sure that you'll be able to deliver those new products successfully, or else you'll end up with extra costs and unhappy customers. So in this video, we'll look at new product introductions, and how an NPI process should integrate into your supply chain. When most people think about new products, they focus on the initial design. What will it look like, how big will it be, and who will buy it? But supply chain folks have to think about a lot of other issues too. Where will it be manufactured? What kind of packaging will it need? How will it be transported and stored? Where will you buy the components and the raw materials? The list goes on.
