- -[Instructor] Now that we've taken some time to explore the growth mindset, let's take a few minutes and explore the fixed mindset in more detail. As before, let's begin our exploration with some definitions. Number one, a fixed mindset is the belief that your intelligence, your personality, your character, and your abilities are carved in stone. They are what they are. They are unchanging, immovable, and will never be different than what they are today. Number two, somebody with a fixed mindset believes that failing makes you a failure. In other words, they internalize a missed opportunity, or a failed test, or a lost job promotion, not as an event where I didn't accomplish my best but as an event that proves that I personally at my core am defined as a failure.
