- Imagine that a new leadership position opens up and you and several team members put your names in the hat, and then you get promoted over your peers while they're left feeling disappointed. This transition into leadership can be challenging, so it's important to stay connected to your core relationships, so that you can leverage them in the future. To begin, sit down with each individual on the team that's meant something to you and reinforce their value. Tell them how much you've enjoyed working with them, reaffirm how much you hope to collaborate with them as you enter into this new role. You'll still need them to be your champions and help you get things done, so you'll want to make sure to celebrate their ideas.
