Have the courage to speak up. Take action now that you have some tools.
- The message I want to leave you with today is that you can do this. It's not easy, but you can do this. And most likely, if you're listening to this course, it's probably because you've had an interaction in the past that you found unsatisfying, you thought that you could have performed better, and you're trying to figure out what it is that you can do. Well, now you have it. You have the compassionate curiosity framework, and it can help you through these difficult conversations. Step one, acknowledge and validate emotions. Step two, get curious with compassion, and step three, engage in joint problem solving. And so my challenge to you is next time you're presented with an opportunity to have these difficult conversations about race, engage, lean in, use the framework. It'll guide you. And so I want to leave you with this. It's a Chinese proverb that says the best time to plant a seed is 20 years ago. The second best time is today. So next time you have the conversation, engage and use the framework and make the world a better place.
