From the course: Setting and Managing Realistic Expectations for Your L&D Program

More information on L&D topics

- As you can see, setting the right expectations for training delivery, training measurement, and even training budgets is important. The right expectations for L&D set you up for success. The wrong expectations can doom your efforts. Apply the concepts, tips, and ideas presented here to your own organization. Start by identifying what expectations you need to set, and then properly communicate those expectations, both to organizational leadership and to your coworkers. If you'd like to learn more about how to position your L&D program in your organization, check out my course, Your L&D Organization as a Competitive Advantage. And if you want to know more about creating a training program, check out Designing a Training Program: Setting Goals, Objectives, and Mediums. Again, I'm Karl Kapp and thanks for taking the time to ensure that you properly establish the training efforts within your organization. Trust me, doing it right the first time is a lot better than trying to live up to someone else's unrealistic L&D expectations. As the old phrase goes, the best way to exceed expectations is to first set them and then surpass them. You are now in a position to both set L&D expectations and to exceed those expectations. The next step is up to you. Jot down what you hope to achieve, develop a plan, and move forward. There's no better time to start than today.
