Mindful vs. radical transparency

- So your goal is to communicate transparently to build more trust. That means you communicate everything to everyone all the time, right? Wrong. Transparency is the act of being honest and factual and sharing certain aspects that help others understand backstage processes or decision making. But when we get lazy about transparency, we think that just sharing every piece of information with everyone checks the box. Unfortunately when we aren't mindful about transparency, we can create the opposite of the desired effect of trust. We can create anxiety, distrust, and even frustration. I call this the difference between radical transparency and mindful transparency. Radical transparency is the practice of sharing all information including information that might be based on assumptions, passing trends, or heightened emotion.
