- Mentoring doesn't only have to be top down. You can mentor colleagues and peers and it can also happen in the reverse. So the first time I learned about reverse mentoring is from my friend Fernando Aguirre. Fernando is the former Chairman and CEO of Chiquita Bananas. He's now on the board of CVS and he's also a Twitter ninja, but that wasn't always the case. He learned how to tweet expertly from someone who was more junior than him. So the next time that you're mentoring, don't just think about mentoring someone more junior, think about mentoring throughout the entire organization.
