- When you train as a medical assistant, you'll learn a variety of skills that can lead to a host of career options because medical assistants can work both in the clinical and administrative sides of healthcare. Medical assistant training can take less than a year, and depending upon the program, may include more than 200 hours of supervised training in a clinical setting.
