- Thinking about the future can feel abstract. We can imagine what we might be doing tomorrow or next week because it's scheduled on our calendar. But it may be harder to picture what five or 10 years out might look or feel like. But if we look at the future as a continuum of time, we can start to understand it in context and make it a bit more concrete. I learned about this Stewart Brand, founder of the "Whole Earth Catalog", the Long Now Foundation, and Global Business Network, the scenario planning firm where I worked for many years. Stewart describes the future as a continuum. "This present moment used to be the unimaginable future." Let's pause on that for a minute.
