Make mindfulness and compassion a habit

- One of my favorite quotes is from James Clear. He wrote the Book "Atomic Habits". He says, "Our lives do not rise to the level of our goals. They fall to the level of our systems." So what are the systems that we can put in place if we want to build a practice of mindfulness and compassion? Well first, what does he mean? Our lives rise, do not rise to the level of our goals, they fall to the level of our systems? Well in my own life, one of my goals is I'm trying to eat a little healthier. I'm a total sugar hound. I have a sweet tooth. And so my system to help me out is I don't buy ice cream and put it in the house. Because apparently, I am powerless against it (laughs). But we were having a birthday party, and we had lots of pie, and lots of ice cream left over in the house. And so for the next 10 days after the birthday party, I was eating pie and ice cream like sometimes twice a day. Now don't get me wrong, it…
