- As the old saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. If you've been newly hired or transferred into your role, you've already made a positive impression to get you where you are, but you may have been working through recruiting or HR, and had limited contact with your actual manager. And if your manager is transferring in from outside the company or another department, then you'll be among a number of direct reports they're going to have to meet and start working with.
