- For loving-kindness meditation, sit in a comfortable fashion, make sure your body is at ease. It's hard to do loving-kindness in the beginning if your body's uncomfortable. Let yourself relax and be at rest. As best you can, let your mind be quiet. Let go of plans and preoccupations and feel yourself just here, seated on the Earth in this human form with all the struggles and joys of human life. Bring your attention to feel your breath, the life breath within you. And as you do, sense the breathing in the area of the heart. Feel your breath, as if you could breathe in and out of your heart. And now we'll begin the loving-kindness practice by inwardly reciting the ancient phrases, the intentions of the heart.
