Lines vs. dynamic connectors
- [Instructor] Lines and connectors in Visio can look the same, but they behave very differently. Try this comparison. Use the Rectangle Tool to draw two rectangles, select the Line Tool to draw a line, and then select the Pointer Tool to revert to normal operating mode. Now drag the left end of the line to the rectangle on the left, and the right end to the other shape. Finally, move one of the rectangles, and you'll see that ordinary lines don't have any connection to the rectangles. For comparison, delete the line, then right-click anywhere on the drawing page and select the one time use Connector Tool from the lower left corner of the mini toolbar. By the way, you can select the Home tab and use the Connector Tool there for the same purpose. Move the Connector Tool toward one of the rectangle tools until the border lights up in green.
