Licensed vocational nurse/licensed practical nurse training, salaries, career trajectory

- When you train to become a licensed practical or licensed vocational nurse, it takes relatively little time, but it will give you a career that can last as long as you like. Most nursing schools will require that you have completed a CNA program before you can enroll. Once you're enrolled, you'll take courses in basic anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, maternal and child health, psychology and signs and symptoms of diseases. You'll spend a lot of time doing clinical rotations where you'll get hands-on training in acute care hospital settings. You'll be placed on the medical surgical floor and will take care of up to two patients. You'll need to do a lot of research in terms of finding out all of their specific medications and diagnosis, then you'll care for your patients as if you were working on the floor. You'll be given opportunities to do things like take blood sugars, administer insulin and do wound care.…
