- Six Sigma is a discipline methodology for improvement. It is this discipline that was thought to be analogous to the strict discipline found in martial arts. As a result, the belts in martial arts were adopted to recognize the different levels of expertise in Six Sigma. So let's explore the different belts, the type of training received, and their roles in the implementation of Six Sigma. The belts in order of expertise are white belt, yellow belt, green belt, black belt, and master black belt. Let's start with the lowest level first, the white belt.
