- One of the hardest parts, when it comes to adaptability, is that we sometimes find ourselves in situations where we're asked to do new things, new jobs, new tasks, that we may feel are actually beneath us. That can feel embarrassing and it can feel threatening to our professional identity because so often in our culture we define ourselves and our personal worth and professional worth based on what we do for a living. So it can really feel disruptive, like we're moving backwards, if suddenly we're tasked with something that is not quite what we bargained for. Here are a few ways to look at it and reframe it so that we can be more successful in that situation. The first is to step back and look at the big picture and ask yourself what needs to be done?
