Deciding where to buy something involves trade offs between price and values, such as convenience, selection, support for your local economy, and environmental and social justice concerns. You may be willing to pay more for an item from a local independent store than you would for an item ordered online. But how much more? To decide you need to be able to compare prices. Use meta-search sites or browser ad-ons that allow you to check pricing on many sites simultaneously. For local stores that don't have their inventory online, call them to find out what's in stock, what they can order, and the best price they can offer you.
