- [Interviewer] What was the moment when you decided to leave a stable corporate job to start your own company, The Modist? - To be fair, also, the idea of The Modist had started brewing in my mind for about a year and a half or so prior to leaving my job at the time. And, I mean, it was nowhere near what it is today, and it wasn't, of course, crystallized and well formed, but it was an idea that I knew had potential. I mean, I'd seen the frustration of women like my mother who dressed modestly, myself, I worked in finance for that long so of course my dress code was also conservative and more corporate. And I just knew that it's bound to be the case for many women out there who dress this way and who want options and who want a destination that is relevant to them.
