Leaving an expert impression
- Nothing creates confidence like competence. Watching a competent person in action in any walk of life is such a breath of fresh air. Whether it's the waitress that knows the menu inside and out and nails a recommendation for you, or a podcast you tune into regularly because that person knows their stuff. A competent person has the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do what is needed successfully. If you want to walk into a room and own it, it is essential to not only be able to talk the talk but you need to be able to walk the walk. You need to be prepared to come off as an expert, speaking confidently and fluently about what your goals are, what you know about them and why you're there. And no faking. The point isn't to pretend you know what you mean, but to effectively translate that you do know your stuff, and you're not afraid to speak up.
