Learning the layout of the airports you travel through
- If your business travel often involves catching connections, as opposed to flying direct, it's really important to know the layout of the airports you're traveling through, as well as the transportation you may need to take to move between terminals. Having the layout of the airport in your head, or being able to easily pull up the info you need on your phone, can mean the difference between catching a tight connection or missing it and having to be rebooked on the next flight out. For example, I connect all the time through Washington Dulles Airport, and I usually have to go from landing at terminal A to making my way to terminal C to catch my connecting flight to the West Coast. Now, at Dulles, this involves a pretty long walk up and down escalators, down long corridors, into a train that runs between the terminals.
