- I remember my very first senior team meeting. It was overwhelming. I get there, and I'm sitting there, and all these people enter the room, my fellow leaders go around one by one, talking about their new initiatives. It was a lot to take in. Fast forward three months, and I get the hang of it. I listen to my fellow team members, I take some notes, I give my updates, and then I go filter that information to my team. All right. After about a year of this, it starts to get a little disappointing. It dawns on me that I've spent all this time really just being a messenger, and out of the 12 hours I've spent in these meeting over the past year, I probably have only gathered a handful of helpful details. I know a little bit more about the organization and who does what, but didn't feel like a great use of my time.
