Leading with wisdom

- Wisdom is about having good sound judgment. It actually provides an appreciation for the insights that's not readily visible for the eye. There are three facets to wisdom. The first one is an appreciation for the nested and interconnected nature of the world. The second one is the use of intelligence, intuition, and experience together towards a common goal. The third one is understanding complex and dynamic environments and working with the system to enable emergence of constructive patterns. So how do we develop wisdom as people leaders? Developing wisdom takes a bit of time because it requires experience. But nevertheless, there are things we can do as people leaders. The first one is respecting and honoring everyone's right to dignity, freedom, and creativity. The second one is holding people accountable. As people leaders, we sometimes think either we have to micromanage people or we have to just let go. And most of us as human beings actually prefer to be somewhere in between.…
