Leading through listening
- The number one skill you can develop to be a better leader, manager, coworker, or even friend is listening. Effective listening is the bridge to success. It improves understanding, increases engagement, turbocharges negotiation and persuasion, and leads to stronger relationships. The best part of being a great listener is that it's a skill, and like any skill, you can learn it, practice and improve. My name is Eric Zackrison. I'm a professor, a consultant, and I've managed and owned businesses for nearly 30 years. One of the keys to my success is that early on someone taught me the importance of listening, and I've spent the last 30 years practicing and improving my own listening skills, as well as those of my teams, my students, and my clients. In this course, I'll show you how effective listening benefits team success and give you some strategies for overcoming listening barriers, like how to decipher unclear messages or emotional reactions. I'll share with you how to make your team feel heard and give you some helpful tips on how to signal that you are listening. Because when it comes to listening, perception is reality.
