Leading with foresight
- In business, foresight helps us imagine a range of possibilities and use structured frameworks to minimize risks. Imagine trying to get as close as possible to what's likely to happen and preparing yourself and your organization accordingly. How do we develop foresight as people leaders? There's a formula that can help us. It's called 5 P's. The first P stands for preparation. This is about understanding the history and the context of what we are trying to achieve. The second one is around probabilities. This requires us to engage in scenario-building and imagine what could be potential probabilities. The third one is around possibilities. Now we are going to take the scenarios and wonder what could be the potential outcomes. The fourth one is around priorities. So, what would be our strategic priorities given everything we know about the context? The last one is around purpose.
