Laws of success in ecosystems
- Ecosystem strategy can be complex, and so it pays to have a few simple rules. There are really three rules that matter. I think of them as a prism. A prism adds clarity. It splits the factors that you are need to be concerned about. It has three sides. And, so, every business combination, ecosystem, partnership, merger, they all depend on three rules for success, and I call them the three laws of business combination through this prism. The first rule is one plus one equals three. This is a common statement, and it means that all the companies together, if it's an ecosystem, many companies together, have to create more value together than they could alone. The second rule is one plus one is one. That doesn't mean that they don't have add value, it just means it's a management equation.
