- As you learned in the prerequisite course, Operational Excellence Foundations, a Kaizen Event is also called a Workout, Lean or Rapid Improvement Event. If you want a refresher, please review the Lean event, Kaizen or Workout video in Operational Excellence Foundations. Kaizen is a well organized, structured and facilitated event to improve a work area, a department, a process, or an entire value stream. During the improve phase, your green belt or black belt project leader, depending on the results of the analyze phase, may deem it appropriate to conduct a Kaizen event. Kaizen events organized during the improve phase of Lean Six Sigma projects are essentially rapid improvement events. Such events may be used to accomplish any one of the following. To generate, develop, and evaluate solutions. To address proven X factors from early analysis. Conduct a 5S event to organize tools and equipment in the workplace.
