- No matter how good you are, there's always room to get better, and the way you build and maintain a great supply chain is through continuous process improvement. In this video, we'll look at three process improvement approaches that you're likely to encounter on a certification exam. And that you should be familiar with in your day-to-day activities. The first approach is called Six Sigma. Six Sigma started as an engineering technique for manufacturers to reduce the variations on a process. But now it's used in lots of other industries too. The name Six Sigma comes from statistics where you describe the variation in terms of standard deviations or sigmas. The basic goal of Six Sigma is that only three parts out of every one million are defective.
