Influencing and engagement skills for change managers
- How challenging would it be to deliver a change if a large majority of people in your organization are not convinced it's needed? I'm sure you'd agree. It could feel like wading through a syrup. So we need to find a way to influence the people to respond to the change. We need a strategy. Fortunately, there are several models and strategies to choose from. One influencing model looks at the Rogers Innovation Adoption Model. This model helps us understand that sometimes stakeholders can be influenced by others and help us prepare a way to engage with a group who can influence other groups. With this strategy, innovators target early adopters and recruit them as champions for the change. Early adopters then positively influence the early majority. At that point, the late majority will jump on the bandwagon. They do so because they're influenced by the early majority, or because they're afraid of being left behind.…
