- In my restaurant career, I often saw changes rolled out in less than ideal ways. And it took me some time to work out why things didn't go as I expected. I would get caught up in trying to figure out why things were harder after the change than before and let myself get discouraged. Often I would see things slip back to the way they were before. It wasn't until I started reading and learning more about organizational change that I finally understood what separated my successful change initiatives from ones that failed. When things didn't go well, it was often a misstep during the implementation phase. I want to walk you through four basic steps of implementation when you're bringing about new change.
