- So where and how do generations get into conflict? We experience this all around us in big and small ways, in meetings, at company events, and at the water cooler, and of course, over email and on social media. Researchers are identifying some of the specific themes that run through these conflicts. Building a sense of perspective and understanding of these themes helps create the context for us to intercede and resolve them. One study published by Oxford University Press offers a practical model that organizations can use to identify where conflicts occur, and how to engage with them. According to this model, tensions arise on three fronts. Values, the adherence to a more traditional versus a more progressive approach to problem solving, managing, or interacting.
