- If you ask me for a screwdriver, I can give you a screwdriver, sure. But you might not actually need a screwdriver. Sure, you have something to fix obviously. But why ask for a screwdriver when you actually need a hammer? Or did you even know you needed a hammer? Maybe you just need some help. Asking the right questions is crucial. Usually though, when I help people, they tell me what they want. They tell me they need some thing, a process, a product. They've already figured out what we should buy. But they are so confused which problem they're actually trying to solve. I often help teams understand what the business need is, the why are we doing what we're doing question. 'Cause so many times, people will come to me, and they'll tell me what they want. They'll tell me they need to cut jobs, or need to launch a new product.
