- In 1965, Bruce Tuckman developed a model for the stages of team development. And even though it was developed a long time ago, it's still one of the most relevant models today. You may have heard of this as forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Let's take a look at each of these stages, and see how you can accelerate and support the team's progress through each stage. The forming stage is when the team first comes together. The team is depending on the leader to tell them about the project and what to do. At this point, team members may not know each other well so you want to ask people to introduce themselves and talk about the role on the team. To accelerate the team through this stage, you need to describe the project vision and objectives. Go over the high level milestones and the key deliverables.
