How to write a memorable thank-you note

- The interview is over, but you have one more opportunity to make a lasting impression. Sending a thank you note to the hiring manager and anyone else you interviewed with at the company can act as a cherry on top of your performance in the interview. After you've finished interviewing, I highly recommend sending a thank you note over email within hours of the interview wrapping up. It's an opportunity to drive home your interest in the role, gratitude for the interviewer's time, and most of all, it's one more chance to showcase your marketing skills in action. Beyond thanking them for their time and sharing once more why you're interested in the role, like most people, go a step further. Personalize the note based on what was discussed in the interview to articulate you're not like other candidates and are willing to go above and beyond what's expected. Related to the responsibilities of the role, the company's goals and the conversations you had in the interview, include an example of your marketing skills in action. Like if a big part of the role is creating pitch decks to sell potential clients, including a link in your thank you note to a short pitch deck you've created could help seal the deal. Similarly, you could include a short video you've created, a visual you designed, or an article you've written that relates closely to a discussion you had in the interview. This isn't an opportunity to share content with the interviewer for the sake of it, but instead create something new or share an existing resource that's particularly relevant. Here's a straightforward, well-written thank you note that goes above and beyond what the interviewer likely expects and demonstrates the candidates marketing expertise. - [Tali] Hi Deja, thank you so much for the conversation today about the marketing manager role and of course, for treating me to lunch. This position is the ideal match for my experience in organizing campaigns in financial services and my aspirations to take on a leadership role. We discussed that producing a video series for the organization is a key priority in the first 100 days, so to demonstrate my excitement for the role, I produced this video on why I'm the right hire as I wanted to show you these skills in real time. I don't have any additional questions at the moment, but if you have any further questions for me, don't hesitate to reach out. Enjoy your week! Tali. - This is one way to ensure your thank you note helps you out shine other applicants with a final showing of your work ethic, passion, and marketing skills in action. Again, make sure the extra effort you're putting into this thank you note is relevant to the role and the interview experience you just had. Remember to still keep the thank you to a few sentences as it should still be very easy for the employer to read through it. The interview may now be over but by infusing a little creativity into the process, you're more likely to get a job offer for the marketing manager role in no time.
