How to use question marks in wondering sentences

- Be especially careful when you're writing sentences about wondering, because they often sound like questions but aren't. For example, "I wonder whether they'll want dessert" isn't a question. So it ends with a period, not a question mark. 'I wonder" is a statement, not a question. "Do you want dessert?" is a question. And, "Do you wonder whether they'll want dessert?" is also a question, but "I wonder whether they'll want dessert" is a statement about what you are thinking. So always double-check when you're writing sentences with the word wonder. They can be questions, but most often, they're statements and take a period, not a question mark.
