- The absentee, hands-off, or as I like to call them, the ghost boss, can be really tricky for some to navigate. This is the boss that throws you a project and then, poof, they disappear like a ghost. They're not around when you need them, they're not there to answer questions, and you find yourself kind of floating off in space all by yourself. The upsides to a ghost boss is this can be really empowering and really awesome for those of us who like a lot of autonomy and independence in our work. However, it could be a little discouraging for those who need a little bit more guidance, who need a little bit more hands-on, or maybe who are new to the organization.
