How to structure a winning proposal
- There comes a time in every freelancer's life when they're ready to start working with clients, and to do that you'll probably start with a proposal. I'm not talking about a marriage proposal, but a project proposal. A written document that gives a snapshot into the work you can do to help the client. Just about every client project starts with a proposal, even if it's informal. Let's talk about the pieces and structure of a proposal that can help convince a client to start working with you. First, start with the overview of the project. This section is almost like a cover letter to the prospect that recaps what you've learned about their needs to this point. In most situations you'll already have some insight into what they're looking for, from a conversation or interaction you've had with them. What's your clients current reality? What are their specific goals for a project, and how can you help them? At a high level you'll want to lay these things out in the overview. Next…
