How to mix quotation marks with question marks
- Mixing question marks and exclamation points with quotation marks is different from mixing periods and commas with quotation marks. With question marks and exclamation points, you have to determine whether the whole sentence is a question or exclamation or just the part in quotation marks. If the entire sentence is a question or exclamation, then the question mark goes at the very end, outside the closing quotation mark, like this. Did you enjoy reading "The Lord of the Rings"? I can't wait to see the movie version of "The Lord of the Rings"!
