- Remember when you wanted your driver's license? I'm guessing your parents didn't just throw you in a car and say okay, drive. You had to learn how to do it. And I bet they still drove with you for awhile until they felt confident you could do it by yourself. But when you think back, your parents didn't just ask you if you know how to drive. And they also didn't give you the keys and let you go. That'd be irresponsible. Unfortunately, trainers do this all the time. They ask employees if they are applying the skill. And guess what, employees say yes, probably just to get rid of you and then return to their old habits. I know trainers observe employees to see if they're actually doing it. And again, employees are only applying the skills while they watch.
