How to manage young retail employees
- Managing a young team can be challenging, but it can also be rewarding. If you want to successfully manage your young employees, there are some powerful strategies to help you do just that. Back when I was fresh out of high school I ran a local yogurt shop. I had several young employees to manage, and, hey, I was young too (laughs). But it was my responsibility to make sure that my team performed to the best of their ability. We had revenue goals, cleanliness goals, and even customer service goals. I learned early on the keys to managing a young team. A lot can happen during a typical shift. It can be stressful dealing with customers and employees while trying to get your job done. That's why as a manager or supervisor you need ways to stay on top of what's going on around you. To start, keep a journal on all the activities, wins, and challenges of your team. It may seem like extra work at first, but it will save you a lot of time in the long run. It's impossible to remember…
