- I recently reconnected with a mentor of mine over a video chat after I saw him featured as a pundit on the national news over breakfast one morning. I met up with another mentor when I realized that the member of Congress she works for was visiting my state. And I learned she'd be in town for 24 hours. And I reconnected with another by sending her a gift to congratulate her on the arrival of her firstborn child. Moral of the story, there are so many wonderful ways to sustain mentorship relationships by keeping in touch creatively. Here are some ideas to keep the relationship alive. First, you can always ask for specific forms of support via email. Ask for some quick feedback on your resume, get a second set of eyes on your presentation before a big conference, or ask for meeting or call to talk through how you're handling a sticky situation at work.
