How to find valuable research and insights

- The brain is a processor. I'm not saying it's a computer, but it processes information. It takes input, it processes it, and it gives you output, so the best way to improve the output we generate is to improve the input. I split input into two different kinds. There's general input and there's specific input. General input is the stuff that we collect by being curious. It's a habit we need to develop. The broader the input we collect, the more we have to draw upon. Specific input is the information we gather that's relevant to the task we're working on. But not all information is equal. Let's look at what makes the good stuff. You should be looking for the knowledge in other people's heads. People outside your department, your customers, your competitor's customers, members of the public. You should actively be looking for viewpoints that challenge your own.
