How to find projects outside your job requirements

- One of the fastest ways to get visibility and to make it easier for your sponsor to advocate for you is to raise your hand and take on projects. Getting involved in projects beyond your usual job requirements shows your sponsor that you are selfless, you have initiative, and you're intentional in growing your career. Taking on projects increases your street cred in three ways. Number one, the sponsor hears about you. One of my first promotions at a Fortune 500 company was to lead a team that no one wanted. I saw this as a challenge that would enable me to raise my personal brand awareness and solve a critical need in the company. My sponsor heard about this through a peer, and it pleased him that I would step up to bat. Number two, become known as a collaborator. True teamwork is about the we, not the me.
