From the course: Pivoting Your Small Business in a Crisis

How do I stay informed?

- [David] As you decide how to proceed in the midst of a business crisis, you need information. During a major crisis, that information can change every day. You probably already know about specific sources of information for your particular industry. For example, if you own a restaurant, you'll have access to guidance from your public health department, and other governmental agencies that regulate the food industry. But there are certain information sources that can be useful to everyone, because the current crisis is affecting absolutely everyone and everything. So I'm going to show you a few useful websites. It's important to remember that like the situation we're all navigating, these resources are subject to change. First, look for information that's directly related to the current crisis. The World Health Organization is the leading international authority for public health issues. Their website's homepage is currently dominated by information about the current health situation and is updated daily. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are providing national leadership through the current crisis. Just like the WHO, their homepage is currently devoted to providing information about the current crisis and is updated regularly. This webpage from the United States Chamber of Commerce offers a rotation of articles about connecting with your customers and your employees. You'll find information about adjusting to working from home and other valuable topics. And this page is from America's nationwide network of Small Business Development Centers, or SBDCs. On this webpage they offer both articles and webinars with suggestions for coping with the current crisis. To help you find the resources you need, I've included a PDF document in this course's exercise files with the addresses of the websites I've shown you and some more. We will periodically update that document as website addresses change and as new resources become available.
