How to cultivate more patience
- I often tell my clients that impatience is the enemy of success. What does that mean? Think of it in terms of gardening. Imagine someone who plants a tomato plant and expects immediate results after a few days of watering and care. They might tear it out and start again with something new, something they think will grow faster. Most of us understand it takes time and continual care to grow a plant, yet when it comes to our careers, we often expect instant results. This hurts our ability to follow through. So how can you and I cultivate more patience? It begins with using a schedule. If we want to achieve something long-term, we need to set reasonable expectations as to when that is going to occur. It may not be reasonable for me to expect a 25% increase in income within one week. If I expect that, I'm always going to be frustrated with myself and may get trapped by the unproductive get rich quick mindset.…
