How to approach this question

- This question is an opportunity to let your passion for marketing and your personality take center stage. And interviewer is asking this question to assess your passion for marketing but also understand the depth of your industry knowledge. Select a campaign that was successful, distinctive, aligns with your approach to marketing but above all is easy to describe succinctly. The details of the campaign that you choose to highlight are so essential. They showcase your marketing chops and what aspects you think are most important. To nail this one, I'd break up your answer into three parts, providing context, the key components of the campaign, and most importantly the results of the initiative. As you describe each part, remember to explain why you admire the campaign based on what you've learned, what surprised you or even challenge your thinking. This first part is providing the interviewer with the necessary context like what company you're choosing, a concise summary of their campaign and why it caught your interest. It's best to pick a well-known company for simplicity sake. But if you don't, just make sure to briefly explain what the organization you're focusing on actually does. From there, break down the key components of the campaign like its goals, target customers, and the primary tactic or message it was focused on. Like if it was an ad on YouTube you might suggest it was a play to generate awareness amongst working parents, and the takeaway was spending quality time with family. And then to bring it all together, describe the impact of the campaign. Why you admire it as a marketer, and finally relate it to the company you're interviewing with. Your interest in this initiative will help demonstrate your understanding of the marketing landscape and which aspects of a campaign you value the most. As always, aim to relate an aspect of this example to the work you'd like to do at the company. So it comes full circle and presenting you as the qualified marketer for the job.
