Horn effect bias

- Do you remember who the bully was in your school? When you think of that bully, is it harder to think of positive or negative things? Go ahead and pause the video and write down the first five negative and the first five positive words that come to mind when you think of this bully. Okay. So did you struggle more coming up with negative words or positive words? Well, what if I told you this bully had a soft side? What if I told you this bully took care of his or her younger siblings and didn't let anyone bully them? What if I told you this bully became a highly sought after college athlete? Would that change your mind about your first impression of this person? Research says probably not. Why? Because this is a typical horn effect bias.
