- Do all your colleagues understand you easily? Or is there friction with a few people if they don't realize exactly what you mean? It's not just the big stuff that matters, small gaps in understanding can be annoying, especially when people guess, make mistakes and it leaks to larger issues. Here are ways to ensure that you are understood. To practice these steps in action, let's focus on one person who has not understood you easily. Using empathy actively, you're going to figure out where there are disconnects relating to this person and how you can resolve them going forward. Next time you're sitting in a meeting with the person, observe them as they interact with others to identify indicators, that will build up your knowledge and awareness of them.
