Hard, smart, passion

- When trying to create a buzz, your leadership team must set the example with HSP. It stands for hard, smart, passion. These are the three attributes that you must practice, and when you do, it helps create the culture necessary to generate a buzz. So what exactly is a buzz? A buzz is when something draws positive attention or interest. If you want to truly create a buzz and get that attention or interest you want, you really need to understand HSP. Here's a few things I want you to do. First, I want you to work hard. As I'm sure you already know, hard work is a prerequisite if you're going to lead a company. It just comes with the territory. There's a famous saying, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." This is so true, especially today. I can't tell you how many times I have been successful or beat out a competitor with simply hard work. It's also extremely contagious. When others in the company see how hard you work, it will inspire them to work harder. Their commitment level will increase, and your team will perform better. Next, I want you to work smart. It's very important that you understand the difference between activity and productivity. Activity is just working hard. Productivity is when hard work marries smart work. When you work smart, you can make sure you aren't wasting time on the wrong things, and your company will achieve more of your goals. Finally, I want you to develop a strong passion for what you're building. Passion is one of the most effective motivators when it comes to launching a business. It's also one of the strongest predictors of whether an idea will lead to success. Richard Branson says, "When you believe in something, the force of your convictions will spark other people's interest and motivate them to help you achieve your goals." What he is saying is so true. As a leader, your passion will resonate throughout the company and you will get better productivity from everybody. When you bring HSP to your company on a daily basis, you're setting everyone up to be more productive, because the culture will have a work hard, work smart attitude. You will be doing the right things on a daily basis, and you will be planting the seeds necessary to create a buzz.
