Halo effect bias

- Have you ever seen two toddlers playing and one child aggressively takes a toy from the other child? This will usually be followed by a loud cry or perhaps a temper tantrum. When a parent of the crying child complains to the other parent, they stare in disbelief and say, no, not my baby. He would never do anything like that. To be fair, I think most parents suffer from a form of halo effect when it comes to their children, but this is probably expected in most cases, isn't it? Now, when I say halo effect, what I mean is the positive or golden effect a person or place has on you. This can be based off of a positive feeling you get when you have an instant connection with someone because you have a lot in common. When it comes to the workplace and the recruiting and interview process in particular, there can be negative impacts of the halo effect resulting in a wrong person being hired for the job.
