Guided practice: An exercise to develop self-compassion
- Let's do a short exercise designed to build self-compassion. This will be a guided meditation, so I'll lead you through it, I'll give you some instructions. And so as a meditation, find yourself a comfortable but alert position. I like my feet on the floor, sitting on a chair, my back like a string of pearls, but not so tight that I'm uncomfortable, at ease. And you can do this with your eyes open or closed. I prefer my eyes closed, but do what feels comfortable for you. So go ahead and find that position where you feel at ease. I invite you to start taking deeper breaths, a deep inhale, and exhale, deep inhale, and exhale. And you can continue these deep inhales and exhales at your own pace, allowing your body to settle. And as our body settle, our minds begin to settle as well. And allow yourself to be fully present in this moment. And from this place of calm and peace, if you're comfortable, you…
